EE Semester Testimony by Yong Wai Ling

After attending Rubina’s EE presentation two years ago, I knew it was something I would like to be involved in. However at that time my commitments meant it was impossible for me to join. So I became part of EE as a prayer partner for the first two semesters that were held in my church.

Before the third semester Leong Hock asked me to pray about joining EE as a trainee. God did not waste time. The very next morning He spoke to me when I read Isaiah 12 and the rest as they say, is history.

My time as an EE trainee has been one of joy. It was a time when God demonstrated his power and faithfulness.

After my first training session and OJT I left for a trip to the UK. I took my EE text book with me so that I could keep up to date. Since I had just started my training, I had no intention of sharing the Gospel. But God had other ideas.

Whilst in the UK I had the opportunity of visiting an old family friend. As we chatted I began to see an opening for me to share the gospel with her. I felt totally inadequate at this point. I cried out to the Lord in silent prayer for help. Somehow I shared up to the bit about Christ but when phones started ringing and people started to come in, it was time to stop. Two weeks later, after much prayer, studying the text book and practicing the presentation, I went back and finished sharing with her and her husband. My heart was full of joy when she accepted. Unfortunately her husband didn’t.

What I learnt is that firstly, it’s all about God, it’s not about me. Even though we may be ill prepared or inadequate, if we are willing to be used by God, we will experience His power, grace and faithfulness in getting us through. Secondly, praying and listening to God to guide, direct and prepare us and the prospect is of utmost importance. When we are in the centre of God’s will we will have the kind of fulfilment and contentment nothing else in this world can give.
